Innovative Decorating Idea: Eline Pellinkhof’s Wall Embroidery [Video]

We recently received some inspiring pictures that depict Eline Pellinkhof’s fun cross-stick wall embroideries. Eline Pellinkhof’s Wall Embroidery is a cheerful way to decorate your walls using a chic handmade pattern. The artist is a Netherlands-based craft material and fabric patterns freelance designer and her talent shows throughout her work. The cross-stitch murals were all done by hand, but Eline has designed a stencil that helps anyone decorate the walls with the beautiful and creative pattern. The stencil will be available starting October on Eline’s website. Paint it on the walls, on canvas or fabric, the wall embroidery will look fabulous! The concept behind this modern door handle incorporates both a LED Flashlight and a highlighted door handle design in an idea that could save lives. During a blackout, it would be easier to find your way if the door handle glows in the dark. The LEDoorHandle found on Gadget Review is not only for emergencies, it can also decorate your door every day and night. Using the locking-motion of the handle to harness and charge the lithium batteries of the flashlight, the door handle displays another high-tech feature. Featuring a light sensor mood light, the modern door handle can enhance the room’s atmosphere. So it is safe to say that the 2011 Spark Awards Winner can upgrade your lifestyle.

Creative Round-the-Corner Chair: Hörnstol

We’ve seen more and more designs lately that take advantage of an area often neglected. Hörnstol is a highly original chair designed by Anton Björsig especially for the corner. And if you happen to have some matching wooden furniture items around the room, this could be an inspired idea. You might reply that this is not the most practical design in the world and that its size makes it impossible for it to be carried around the house like a common chair. But this is not really an issue to consider, since this product was developed with a precise home location in mind. We can not help but wonder how would two people communicate with each other while seating on this odd furniture piece. All in all, this concept did not leave us indifferent. We appreciate its creativity and are curious to see your reactions.

Feeling Like a Newborn: Alluring Cradle for Adults

Why should small children be the only ones enjoying the sweet comfort and peaceful swings of a cradle? This is probably the rhetorical question that triggered the idea of creating a cradle for adults. Richard Clarkson in collaboration with Grace Emmanual, Brodie Campbell, Jeremy Broker, Eamon Moore, Kahlivia Russell and Joya Boerrigter took the idea of some adults always bearing a child side within to another level. According to the project developers, “Cradle is about creating a safe, comfortable and relaxing environment in which the user can dissipate the overstimulation of their senses. The design was heavily directed by a synthesis of research into Autism and children with Rhythmic Movement Disorder (RMD), as well as saftey, sustainability, function and aesthetics. The chair is designed for maximum relaxation, comfort and calmness“. We are intrigued by the design of this “cradle for adults” (initially spotted on Beautiful Life) and we know that even most of you out there won’t admit it, you would love to take this comfortable bed for a swing.

Practical Storage System Hidden Understairs

Chiswick Woodworking Company completed an interesting and highly practical project consisting of several storage units that can be pulled out from under the stairs. This idea is not new, we presented quite a few similar projects here on Freshome. However, this time the finish is so cleverly executed and the units so well hidden, that we thought we had to share it with you for inspiration. In the photos below you have four different “lockers” and each of them can be accessed individually. We also appreciate the design of the storage devices: each of them futures diverse solutions, for the smallest objects and even large boxes, clothes, shoes and so on. The pulling mechanism is simple; this way anyone can have easy access to the items inside the “stairs” (children too). How do you make the most of your under-stairs space?

Guarding Mountain and Sea Vistas in Athens: Panorama Diamond Villa

Panorama Diamond is a complex and visually inspiring residence located in a picturesque environment at the top of Panorama, Voula, in the southern suburbs of Athens. The project initially draws attention due to original external architectural details, such as a giant round window which defines the first level and an interesting overall building asymmetry. The location of the crib was fully taken advantage of through large windows that allow unobstructed views of the sea and mountains. Stretching over an area of 5,543 Sq Ft. (515 Sq m.), this luxurious family home features five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Some of the amenities of this place include a four car garage, two fireplaces, a heated swimming pool with natural pebble finishes, an outdoor Jacuzzi.
